1927 Martin 2-17 "Old Style" Parlor Acoustic Guitar with a glossy Natural Mahogany finish. This guitar was sent to Martin for a full service and the work done was phenomenal. The guitar plays great and sounds amazing. This tiny parlor guitar is ready to go another 100 years. It weighs just 2.65 pounds and has a 1.75" nut width. It has a 24.25" scale length. The body top measures 12" at its widest and 7" wide at its narrowest. The body is 18" long and 3.75" wide. The string action currently measures a perfect 2.22mm at the 12th fret and there is no buzzing anywhere.

Overall in outstanding condition for its age. The guitar was sent to Martin in Nazareth, PA for a complete overhaul. All receipts and work orders are included. Martin performed a neck reset, refret with a fingerboard face off, top level, and Brazilian rosewood bridge replacement. This 2-17 is absolutely solid with zero issues. There are no cracks anywhere. The body has some typical scuffs and wear you might expect for a 100-year-old guitar, such as light scratches and worming marks. The back of the neck is clean and smooth with only a handful of marks. The neck is perfectly straight with a perfect amount of relief. No issues with the headstock and the original tuners work great. The action is low and the guitar is easy to play.

Does not include a case or any accessories.

Overview

The tiny 2-17 was one of the smallest instruments produced by the Martin Company. With its mahogany top, back, and sides, the 2-17 of the 1920s was very popular and, according to Martin historian Walter Carter, by 1926 the 2-17 was accounting for twenty-eight percent of the company's guitar sales. Jimmie Rodgers played a 2-17 early in his career, as did several other country and blues singers.

The original models from 1922-1928 are often referred to as the 2-17 "Old" model. In 1929, the 2-17 design changed with a new finish and binding pattern. The updated 1929-1938 2-17's were referred to as "new style" or in some cases as the #25.
